Snow Cupcake Garden @ Humane Society of
The back story: Last winter I made cupcakes in the snow. They were about three to three and a help feet tall, painted in bright colours with non-toxic tempra paint. I made two versions of my garden on my front lawn, the first one melted in the January thaw. Passersby stopped their cars and took pictures of my garden and talked to me about what I was doing. I made cupcakes on other people's lawns too, they were called "Random Acts of Cupcake". I did them as surprises for people, to cheer their day. I did this as Princess Lorraine, complete with tiara as "safely helmet", and left a cupcake card telling the recipient they had been "cupcaked".
The story: This winter was not a good snow cupcaking winter because the snow was not "packy", it was just too cold! Fortunately there was one good day for cupcaking and that was just in time for the humane society's National Cupcake day! I was able to sculpt the garden shown above for the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes. I hope this whimsical installation will add the enjoyment of everyone who comes out to help the animals during this sweet fundraising event.
This project was inspired by my desire to share the joy of creating with the community. I wanted to bring my art out of my studio and get people talking about something fun, I wanted to give them a lift of spirit.
